Employment Readiness
Education Enrollment
After clients have a plan and the skills to get a career, training may be in order. Christlife Ministries can help clients find and enroll in GED, Vocational Training, and/or Post-Secondary Education. Staff can assist with selecting an education program, filling out applications, scheduling meetings with advisors, navigating online portals/campuses, and tutoring.
Work Readiness
Christlife Ministries' goal is to ensure that clients who have little, no, or poor work history must be ready to start working. This program presents a cognitive behavior approach to what a “good employee” is. Clients create work goals and habits and discover how to get and keep a job as well as how and why people get promoted.
Career Planning and Assessment
This course identifies the client's interests and informs them of careers in which they may do well. Clients select careers they wish to explore more and research the ins and outs of the position including necessary licensing, training, education needed. They discover exactly what it will take to get their dream job and build goals to accomplish tasks.
Resume Development
Christlife Ministries identifies the three most important steps to getting a job include the application, the resume, and the interview. Being that most of our clients have been incarcerated, we have developed a process for creating a resume that leads to success by speaking with employers in our community. Our resumes are skills-based and follow a template that allows clients to select pre-written skills and abilities to fit any job. Clients work with staff to understand the parts of the resume and how to make adjustments that will help them as they re-enter the workforce.
Interviewing Skills
A great interview is one of the last steps to getting the job. This class discusses everything interviews from requesting an interview, answering the call, how to dress, and how to answer questions. Clients learn to think quickly on their feet and avoid keywords and statements that can lose the interviewer. Since practice makes perfect, clients complete a mock interview, so they can be sure they are prepared when they get the call.
Job Leads
The current digital age can be a difficult task for some and the internet is rampant with scams and viruses. This class teaches clients where to look for jobs online and how to identify safe places to apply. It also assists with the application process, so clients can feel confident that their application is completed correctly and ready for review.
